OMG! I'm Pregnant!

It all started on Friday August 31st when I had a funny feeling I might just be pregnant. But then again I have thought this before and it was nothing so I really did not want to get my hopes up yet again (almost 3 years of this). Hell after all we had pretty much thrown in the towel at this point in the game.

I went on-line on the Thur night and looked up symptoms and the only one I had was sore boobs (OK you can stop laughing now...) so I looked up pregnancy tests and read who had the best one (I love to do my research).

So try buying a pregnancy test from your Pharmacist and play dumb... after all they all know me so no matter what store I went to they'd all have their idea's. So why not just go to my home store and get it there, LOL. I love to play with fire (a true Aries at heart).

I get home from work and in the back of my mind I keep thinking if I am I'll wait till I get it confirmed by the Dr before I tell Pete. Yeah good plan, ha ha ha, jokes gonna be on me after all I'll be all calm cool and collective right?

So I can not for the life of me figure out which way I'm to hold this stick and pee on it! OMG are you kidding me! There are two indents for your thumb, one on each side, and I'm to hold my thumb on one and hold it a certain way. Well I've got two thumbs and can not figure this shit out and I really don't want to screw this up, UGH.... So I re-read the instructions again and decide to go with option "B" pee in a cup and dip the stick. After all I'm not a guy and have never practised peeing on things so my aim could be off, ya think? I do the test, place it in the cupboard and go upstairs to go pack my bag for the long weekend away to Todd and Ann's cabin in the states at Mt. Baker.

So I'm so caught up with packing that I forgot about the test (yeah for about 2 seconds) I run back downstairs to check it and if it's one line it's negative =( and if it's two lines it's positive =) and I'm officially knocked-up. I look at it and there are two little pink lines staring back at me, HOLY SHIT! I scream and yell for Peter (oh ya remember now I'm gonna wait till I see a Dr to tell him, yeah right. And I'm gonna be all calm cool and collective, BA HA HA). He comes in and I'm standing their with my arms behind my back and say "you're never gonna believe what I'm going to show you." He looks at me and says "Is it a spider?" Good guess Pete, ha ha ha. "Ummm nope but it may freak you out" I answer. "Is it a pregnancy test?" (what are the odds he'd guess that???) I hold it up in his face and we both have this look of total disbelieve on our faces (kinda like when you find out there is no Santa Clause). So we are jumping around like total dorks but I have to be the sane one (and why do I think I'm the sane one) and say "we have to get it confirmed by a Dr first" He wants to call his mom ASAP. "No we can't tell anyone."

We talk it over and call their 1-800 number and they tell me that their test is 99.9% accurate. Ummm that still leaves a 0.1% chance that I screwed it up!

On the Tues after the long weekend I go to the clinic and get to pee in another cup, lol. I think my aim is improving. The Dr comes in and says "So we have a positive pregnancy test." That's all I needed to hear. We go over the day I conceived and no more caffeine (Nooooo......) and booze and to take my prenatal vitamins. I had a date in mind but I didn't know for sure so he told me to go and look up a pregnancy calculator on the web and key in my dates and it would tell my the day of conception as well as a due date. Just by my math I thought it would be around my birthday April 12th but it's not 9 months it's really 40-42 weeks is the times frame. So that made it May 2nd, 2008. Turns out that for my 7th Anniversary August 12th I got a gift from Pete that even he didn't know he gave me but it truly is the best gift he has ever givin me. Pete says it was the red wine, I say it was the bottle of Champagne. A friend of mine says he says that if I check with the Dr, he'll probably say it was the penis, hee hee hee.
Peter and I went to Season's in the Park Restaurant for our Anniversary since we got married right below it in the small quarry in Queen Elizabeth Park. The picture I posted of the Happy Couple was taken after dinner and before we made a baby (by only a few hours, LOL)

So there you have, how I got knocked up! Remind me of this )how happy I am right now) if I ever call you crying saying the baby is driving me nuts and I hate Pete, lol.

NOW TO TELL THE FAMILY...
Pete and I are pretty freaked out by it all and it's very surreal. Wed night we go for dinner and I wonder when Grandparent's Day is.... Would you believe it's the up coming Sunday Sept 9th! What are the odds. So I bought Grandparents cards to give to the parents on Sunday.

My Mom and Dad where so cute when we told them and Dad even said "I thought to myself when you where standing there that you looked pregnant." Yes I do tend to look like I have a lil belly but that's from all the beer Pete and I drank in Thailand, they call it a beer gut, ha ha ha.

Pete's Maw and Paw where excited too and it will be his step Dad's first official grandchild so he's very excited. She's pretty stoked as her birthday is April 30th and it could be born on her Birthday. Pete's Mom said they have to come over and move my computer upstairs cause I can't do the stair in my condition, hee hee hee (hey Maw, the washer and drier are down their too, any chance that you want to do our laundry in a few months... PLEASE).

Next on the hit list was Todd and Ann. I have had this all planned out for years on how I'd tell Ann and Ann's Birthday is Oct 31st and their is no way in hell I'd be able to contain myself till then (remember I'm all calm, cool and collective, NOT!) so here is what I did. Pete and I went over on Sunday night after we tell the grandparents and we all sat outside and after a good hour or so I say to Ann "I found this gift and I couldn't remember who or what it was so I opened it and realized that it was for you and I forgot to give it to you at Christmas. So I re wrapped it and here you go." I sit back down as she opens up the gift. Inside is a long jewellery box, is it a watch, a necklace??? No it was the pregnancy test that said I was pregnant. She looks up at me with the most loving look of elation as the tears are only a blink away she tilts her head (I think she said "for real?") and I can't remember to much after that but we where hugging and laughing. We sit back down and she asks, "Does Todd know?" "No." Todd comes out and sits down and Ann tells him about another forgotten present between Ann and I and says "look at what your sister gave me" and passes him the box. He opens it up and it's so funny cause at first it's like what is that??? Then it kicks in and more tears and hugs. We all are so excited and call out their two boys Greg (16) and Trevor (13) and pass the box to them. Trev goes to open it and says "is it gonna bite" we all laugh as I tell him not yet but it will one day. They open it and look at it and have no clue what it is and asks them what is it?, Trev gives the most puzzled look and Greg looks over and we say what is it and Greg says "a dog whistle?" ROFL (thanks god he doesn't know what is it or we might have to have a chat) I ask Trev "what does it say?" He reads it and say "pregnant?" "Yup your gonna be a cousin" Todd laughs and says "Again." lots of cousins on Ann's side.

So that's just the beginning of it all I'm so looking forward to all the other things that this journey will have in store for Pete and me.
Sucks cause Pete gets to carry on while I have to make changes and deal with the fact that their is a peanut sized human in my belly! And let me just say I'm totally freaked out by this. We have already nicknamed the baby "Peanut" and it's funny cause I automatically refer to it as a her, lol. But whether it's a boy or a girl we just want a healthy happy baby that will sleep through the night (OH come on, let a girl dream and stop laughing so hard, you might pee your self!)
