Let it Snow Let it Snow, OMG we are snowed in!!!

OK so we got a good foot plus of snow last week and then it started to snow again on Dec 21st. I ended up draggin Nate down to Pete's work as we drove him cause his sports car is so low that it becomes a snow plow, LOL. Nate was great, we hung out up stair in te office while Pete finished up some jobs.
We came home and took a few pics of us and Nate in the snow.

Dec 23rd, we got another foot of snow so we are well over two feet and the white stuff keeps falling down. I have no problems driving in it with my Murano it's all the other jack asses on the road that drive me nuts. We went out and did our last minute errands along with everyone else.

So here I sit on Christmas Eve with snow coming down heavy and fast, in fact it's so bad out that the satellite when down =( no more Christmas music and fake fire for me =( Time to go spike the eggnog and and make the most of it, LOL
We took more picture to share and man the white stuff in deeper then Nate! We could loose him if we drop him, LOL.

SANTA!!!!!

We took the wee man to go see Santa at Metrotown Center and to have coffee with Auntie Connie. Also to see if she has recovered from babysitting, hee hee hee.
We took a few pics with our camera but the flash that they have is INSANE! You can really see the color difference and in fact the shot of all of us my hair looks Orange! Trust me it's not orange and I paid alot of money for those blond highlights, grrrrr. But Pete's hair looks orange too, HA HA HA. Anyone remember Golden Apricot 1991??? Sorry Pete I had to slag you.

Babysitting Emma style

OK, so it's Pete's X-mas party and Auntie Connie is babysitting for us.
Well since we really are newbs and poor Connie got held up at work that when she got here our cab was waiting and it was a flash in the pan here is what to do and we'll see ya later, good luck, BYE! Well it started off fine but then Nate decided he'd pull what I like to call the "Emma" (our god daughter) and cried for two hours and poor Connie couldn't put him down to get any food for herself and he wouldn't eat either =( I wonder if Reg and Chad have ever recovered form that night with Emma??? LOL
When Pete finally got the missed calls and he came over to tell me I said we have to go, said goodbye to a few friends and bolted faster then you can say "good night". It was snowing again so I was glad we left when we did.
We got home to a sleepy baby and Connie was wiped and needed some sleep. She was a great sport and said she'd babysit again but next time we'll do it in baby steps. I agree but heck we're new at this. I'm just happy she's willing to try again, LOL.
Good thing baby's are cute, hee hee hee.

SNOW!!!

Well the snow is finally here just in time for X-mas and we might just have baby's first white Christmas. We got about 25-30 cm and it looks so pretty. I got the pleasure of shoveling the walk while Pete was at work and Nate was taking a nap. LOVE having a baby monitor =)

Rollin Rollin Rollin

Nate desided that it was finallt time to roll over. He was on his tummy and he just flipped right over. He hasn't done that since he was about 4 months but I'm guilty on not encouraging it as once he starts rolling my life become more hectect, LOL. Soooo not looking forward to crawling and walking, have you seen the death trap we live in??? HA HA HA. Plus I have heard many a story from the other mom's juist how hard it becomes when that happend and I have yet to met an adult who doesn't know how to roll over, crawl or walk so Nate can do it on his timeline, NOT mine.

My little Scientist.

Nate got to do a language study at UBC today. They subjected him to 4 mins of flashing lights and Japennes. Thank good I had a head set on with music cause it was driving me mental, LOL. Nate did really good but the last few seconds he tried to look up at me and to see what I was doing and looking at. They put black out glasses on me so he can't see my eyes to see what he might look at. It is facinating and I look forward to the results at the end of the study.
To reward Nate he got a really sweet hat and an honorary Degree of Infant Scientist. It's cute.
He's such a lil rockstar for us.

Let's go SHOPPING!

It's that time of the year again and I'm heading south to the US for Thanksgiving and the ever so much fun... BLACK FRIDAY! Oh yes I am a little crazy and YES I took Nate. We slept in and joined the girls at about 1pm and shopped up a storm. It's so nice down at Todd and Ann's place at The Glen that I stayed for four days. Pete really missed us and it was a good break for all of us. We missed him too.

Guess who got his 2 front teeth???

Well after some trying nights of unsuccessful soothing he FINALLY cut his two front bottom teeth!!! YIPPEE! OK, I know that doesn't mean he's gonna start sleeping through the night again right away but I hope to god the worst of it is over, or at least till the next ones want to appear, *sigh.
I have to say that putting anything in his mouth is hazardous to my health, finger, knuckle, nipple o_O YIKES! They are razor sharp and IF he bites me and draws blood I think I'll have to whip out the dremal and file the suckers down, just kidding... but a trip to the dentist wouldn't hurt, LOL

Nooooo, Mommy No!

Feeding time at the zoo with Nate can be full of green peas being sprayed in my face as he does a raspberry, cereal getting flicked across the room as his finger pop out of his mouth and the occasional apple sauce snot bubble but today Nate did something new. I was almost done feeding him and I put the spoon towards his mouth and he shook his head to say "NO", it was so cute. I don't know if he really knows other then to say "good luck trying to get that in my mouth when my head is shaking". Cheeky bugger, but I love him.

Discovery in the Bath Tub!

Low and behold it's so much fun when Nate discovers that he had hands, then his feet and well it was only a matter of time before he found out he had a penis!!!
Splashing and kicking away in the tub when all of a sudden he reached down and grabbed it and giggled, lol. Well he definitely takes after Pete, ROFL.
There won't be any pictures to show you just how far he can stretch it, o_O WHY do they do that??? But I'm sure you can just image.

My lil devil goes trick or treating!!!

Well we stopped by Grandpa Hay's to trick or treat and to surprise him! He was pretty stocked to see the wee man all decked out in his Halloween costume (yes it was 10 sizes to big but they don't come in a size 0, LOL.
Next we headed off to Uncle Todd and Auntie Ann's to go tricker treating. We had lots of fun and Mommy got to eat LOTS of candy since Nate doesn't even have teeth yet, ROFL. (I'll use any excuse to get chocolate).

First Food!

So Pete's all HOT to trot to feed Nate so I figured why not! He's showing interest and let's give it a go, what's the worst thing that can happen??? HA HA HA, little did I know what we were getting into.
Basically it went down like this, he was not sure what to make of it, or at least the spoon and ended up spitting it all out. NICE! Who's gonna clean up THAT mess??? Mommy to the rescue, lol.

We pushed on and hit the jack pot with peas! He loves them =D Well it sure is messy but he's eating like a lil pig... takes after his mommy, ROFL!

He's too funny cause when he's finished he likes to kick back and lounge in his high chair with his feet up on the table. No point trying to tell him other wise cause all he hears is "blah blah blah..." (takes after his father, LOL)

Nate's Big Adventure... OK it was just Calgary

Nate had his very first family vacation to Calgary complete with plane ride! OK, so the one perk of the free loader is that we get to board first. SWEET! I was nervous that he was gonna cry but he spent most of the trip in Pete's lap and sleep'd a good chunck of the whole big 1 hour flight. Just as we were getting off, last ones I might add... he fussed a little and the I apolagized to the stuartes and they laughed. They said he was an angel and didn't hear him at all on the flight and that he is not a fussy baby and we don't know fussy (OH thank god for that). I guess for us cause he is such a good baby that why he does cry we get a lil panicky, or at least I do, lol.

We had a lovely time visiting with Tom, Sue and their two kids Riley (9) and Katelyn (4). Katelyn was all over Nate and was like having a mini babysitter as she loved to play with him and it keep'd Nate entertained.
I let her give Nate a bottle and she was sooooo excited and it was so cute.

Riley asked if they could buy Nate and I said sure... for a million dollars. Katelyn quickly ran downstairs and told her mom. I think she wanted to buy Nate, hee hee hee.

The weather was great, cold but sunny.

Giggles, Rolls and Movies!

Well Nate is starting to giggle and it's SOOOOO cute. Just melts your heart. Still not as good as when he was hanging out in his exersaucer and shit his drawers yesterday and gave me the biggest smile on the planet! Man was he proud of him self... yup he must be mine, LOL. He couldn't stop smiling, I was laughing so hard I almost pee'd myself. Oh how I love him =D

He has rolled over a few times now but I'm all good with him taking his time, the more he moves the harder it will be for me, LOL. I like it when he stays in one spot :p
Mind you i have to watch Daddy more as yesterday he gave Nate a slice of baguette. It was funny and all soggy after words. Yes I'm a freak and was waiting for an allergic reaction but like I said... I'm a freak. At least i come by it honestly, hee hee hee.

I toke Nate to the movie theater for the first time, we saw Mama Mia (great flick). They have Movies for Mommies so it's very baby friendly and was nice as we went solo but ran into a few mom's that we know.

el bebé bailar la salsa

So we adventured out to Brentwood Mall today to dance a lil Salsa. Salsa Babies. Nate was strapped into the carrier for me to wear him and we got to learn a few Latin dance moves. It really is a workout but then again I have 13 pounds strapped to my chest (no not my boobs, they aren't that big, LOL). He was all content and I enjoyed myself and worked up a nice sweat. I think I found a new FREE activity for us to do even if you are on display in a mall for on lookers to watch, LOL.
La mama tiene gusto de bailar!!!
No photo's yet but I think I'll get the camera for next week. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that for some strange reason I now have two left feet when I try to dance with a baby strapped to my chest, hee hee hee.

Nate makes waves at the Pool!!!

Well I took Nate to Killarney Public Pool today for his first swim. He had on his stylish new fire red swim diaper (kinda looks like an ill fitted baggy speedo, lol) with crocodiles all over it, hee hee hee. Got to contain the poop if he goes so there are super snug on the tummy and legs, lol. We went for 30 mins and he was calm but his lil hands were clenched up in a fists and might I say a bit on the blueish purple side, poor lil bugger. The water was tepid and it was nice to do something new for both of us. I think next week we'll take Daddy with us to have some fun.
I'd so love to post pictures but all forms of recording devices are banded from the pool =( but i guess in some ways that is a good thing to keep the perv's out, Oh wait... they let me in??? HA HA HA

UPDATE... we took Daddy to the pool with us and he brought the camera!!! Here are a few pics =)

Grandma Hay

It is with great saddness that we said good bye to my Mum and Nate's Grandma on August 11th. She was so in love with Nate and he brought her so much joy and happiness. Mum was so proud to see her baby girl become a Mother and to spoil her Grandson rotten.
She now looks down on us with big smiles with her Mom as I'm sure Mum has been bragging about Nate. I will miss her dearly but she will live on in our hearts forever, I love and miss you Mum.

Our First "Nurse In" at H & M

Most of you have heard the store about the breast feeding mother in H&M at Pacific Center Mall and the awful treatment from the manager and staff when she was breast feeding her new born... big no no as the BC Human Rights Commission says and I quote " Discrimination because a woman is breastfeeding or expressing breast milk* is sex discrimination". Needless to say they broke her Human Right to breastfeed in public as we may do so any were we please and are protected by our Human Rights =D
SO need less to say Nate and felt we needed to show our support and bare Mommy's taa taa's in public and join the crusading nursing mommy's, hee hee hee. Really I just needed a good excuse to showcase the twins :p
There was well over 200 women packed inside and outside of H&M. Here are a few pics from our exciting daily outing =)

Nate turns 3 months old =D

Time sure does fly... I can't believe that Nate is 3 months old already. He is starting to coo lots and smiles TONS, he is so much fun and it just keeps getting better and better. Mommy even taught him how to stick out his tongue and he thinks that's pretty funny, LOL.
Pete and I are so in love with him and are having a blast.
Happy 3 Months Nattee Nate, BIG kisses from Mommy and Daddy xoxo

The Glen

Well as it turns out we only needed Nate's birth certificate to cross the boarder via car, for the plane he'll need his passport and I can't wait to scan THAT picture in as he looks like W.C. Fields, LOL, all cheeks.
So Pete, Nate and I went to Bellingham for a shopping spree before we went to my brother Todd's cabin at The Glen (Mnt. Baker). The shopping was awesome, Carter's was a HUGE success with about $500+ in clothes for Nate for less then $100. He's very well stocked up now.
Even Mommy and Daddy got a few things at Tommy Hilfiger so we are a styling lil bunch of Browns, hee hee hee. i think Nate has more clothes then Pete and me now, ROFL... no really!
So Nate had his very first stay away from home at the cabin and he did great. We took his play pen for him to sleep in, no issues. Mind you I often bring him to bed with us in the early part of the morning to feed and hang out.
Here are a few pic's from our trip and yes we are sitting on 1980's style barcaloungers, hee hee hee, it's a Glen thing at Camp Newman :p

How fitting after 6 days of no shitting!!!

Yup, he went 6 whole days without a poop!
OK, we love Auntie Connie as she gets Nate the best onesies and she brought this one over and little did she know that after 6 days Nate FINALLY poo'd, more like he exploded! Honey... get the shop vac, ha ha ha. Coincidence or what! The look on Nate's face was funny but the look on Pete's face was even better as he had just given him a bottle of breast milk! Now that was a shot I should have taken, LOL. Nothing quite like holding a baby and he craps his drawers as your holding him, kinda freaks you out, hee hee hee.
The next day he once again only poo'd after a 4 oz bottle of breast milk given to him by Daddy! Talk about kicking his digestive system into overdrive, LOL. Just another FULL diaper. Honey... where is the shop vac??? BA HA HA, no really where is it?
Must be from the heat cause now I’m lucky if Nate poop’s once a day which makes diaper changes a snap but the down side is he sure does make up for it when he goes!!! YIKES!

Neddles, needles, needles and another needle...

Well Nate went for his first set of shots today. 4 shots all at once. 2 needles in each thigh =(
Poor Nate. He cried and I don't blame him. It doesn't bother me when he gets his shots only cause I've had so much blood work done that needles don't bother me. What does bother me is seeing him upset and crying (the tears are a killer) and he's trying to nurse to calm down but he's too upset. He did OK for a few hours after but then got fussy so we gave him some infant Tylenol (recommended by his health nurse) that worked and he slept and nursed the day away.
Today he was just fine, no fever or bruising. He's our little rock star =D

Nate's A Geyser!!!

Well ever since Nate had his circumcision it's really hard to tell when he's about to pee (mostly on me) LOL! No really, the damn thing always points up!
So I'm watching TV with Nate and we are on the living room floor and the Huggies Geyser commercial comes on
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4xjc7_huggies-geyser_fun
just in case you haven't seen it... I tell Nate, "don't get any ideas" I turn my head for not even a second and as I turn back there is a fountain of pee showering me!!! OMFG! Coincidence... maybe??? But funny as hell. Yes I do laugh even when showered with pee by the wee man. It's cute when they are babies, hee hee hee. Not so much when they are in the double digits, ha ha ha.

This is almost as good as when we were at Grandma's house last week and I went to take a peek in his diaper to see if he had poo'd yet and just as I say..."do you have anything in here for Mommy..." he ripes a massive fart right in my face!!! Oh god did it ever stink! Poor bugger had not poo'd all day. Needless to say 6 days later (July 2nd) and a bottle of breast milk (3 oz) administered by Daddy and he filled his drawers! Honey... get the shop vac, ROFLMAO! This is common for babies who are solely on breast milk. Dr said her little one when 21 days! Dear god!

OK, so does he understand us? or is it just a coincidence??? You decide. I'm going with he's a bugger and understands us, lol.

July 1st Canada Day

Auntie Connie spoils Nate but she loves him so much she just can't help herself, hee hee hee. Here is a picture of Nate stylin thanks to his Auntie Connie. She bought him the perfect onesie for his first Canada Day celebration.

Thank You Auntie Connie =D

Pete's First Father's Day

Nate and I spoiled his Daddy for his first Father's Day.
Nate made him an awesome photobook full of pictures and Daddy and him and he even put one or two of me in it as well. Pete really liked his gifts and I even got to steal him away from a late afternoon snack. We went to a lovely restaurant in Langley called "Coza", the food was wonderful and we left Nate at Grandma's house with her, Grandpa and Uncle Roland.
Our nephew's Joel and Robert came by and got to meet Nate and we had a nice family dinner at Pete's mom's house.

Uncle Kevin comes for a visit FINALLY!!!!

OK, yeah I really should be greatful that he didn't come visit Nate when he was sick and make Nate sick but shit Nipper was 6 weeks old when he FIANLLY got to come for a visit and to hold him! He did come to the hospital but he stayed away from both of us as he was sick then =(
The best part was Megan came too! We had a great visit and a nice dinner.
PS Someone should tell Uncle Kevin that when you come to see the baby you should bring a gift, ROFLMAO! no really :p

A Day in Hell!!!

So after the go from the Dr after Nate's ultrasound we can get him circumcised.
Well it was going to be rough for me as all I can think about is he's going to be in pain, *sniff sniff.
Pete took the day off to takes us to Children's Hospital at 8am. I was all good up to the point when the Dr injected the freezing in to the base of Nate's penis, the nurse said "is Mommy ready to go?" I started to cry and said "yes", she told me where I could wait. I left Pete behind to deal with Nate.
The nurse came and got me after 10 mins or so and I came in the room, Nate was fine and so was Pete. I picked him up and sat in the rocking chair to give him a nurse. Pete said it was fine, I asked him if he felt like he was gonna pass out watching it (he does has a history, BA HA HA) and he said he couldn't as he had to be strong for Nate, such a good Dad.
Pete left us to go pay the bill, $150 for the hospital and $200 for the Dr. What a joke!
When Pete came back in the room he found Nate all red faced and me totally stressed out as I couldn't get him to settle. Poor Pete's thinking what the hell happened? Pete took him and I got the nurse. She checked him and he was bleeding so she did compression on his poor lil penis. Not nice to watch your poor child cry and your not sure why. Is he in pain? Uncomfortable? Hungry? He never cries so it was very stressful for us both.
Well we got him settled and got a green light to go home and got the heads up of what to do and if there are any issues to come back. They said it looked all good so there should be no issues (oh if only we were that lucky).
At home the first diaper change was good but at 2pm the next one had a lot of blood in it, more then what was in the hospital, YIKES! So I run around looking for gauze which we have none of, I call the Dr in a panic and he can't be reached and was told to go to emergency.
We scramble like mad and rush back to the hospital and I'm freaking out cause all I can think off is the story last year of the Kellowna boy who died from circumcision due to excessive blood loss. I know I'm a freak!
So they get us in fast and they take all the dressing off and poor nipper (my nick name for Nate) is screaming! Oh come on give mom a break! They get the urologist to come in and have a look and she does more compression as he's bleeding and to me it's A LOT of blood but then again I cried when a tiny spot of bleed showed up from his umbilical cord stump... OK stop laughing. They re-bandaged him and put a compression bandage on him, why didn't they do this in the first place??? So just as we think it's all over and we get poor Nate calmed down...they tell us he needs blood work! OH GOD Nooooo... The nurse comes in and she wrapped his tiny lil arm to find a vein and the crying starts again. OK at this point Pete says "do we really need to do the blood work? Can we come back another day?" They tell us they need to see if his blood is clotting. She can't find a vein and tries the other arm. Nothing. Goes back to the first arm and this time ties it so tight his arm goes purple!!! Are you f'en kidding me? Well she decided to go in and fishes for the vein! OH YES SHE DID!!! She was moving the needle all around in his arm and Nate is screaming like we have never heard before and he's totally freaking out and I'm dying on the inside. She FINALLY gets the vein and fills the vial up and it's over. I wanted to grab Nate and run as fast as I could out of there. Poor Pete was so stressed out he had to go for a smoke and he quit =(
They come back in about 15-20 mins and tell us his blood work was great and we can go home, THANK GOD!
We went home and all three of us curled up in bed and crashed, we were all wiped.
Took me 2 days to recover from it and wish we could erase it from our memory. Good thing Nate will not remember it.

So here is the kicker... we asked the Dr the previous week if it is necessary to have him circumcised and he said "No. All I get is your money." BUT when Pete was talking to him after words he said it was a good thing we had it done cause with Nate's kidney problems he is prone to infection and this will prevent it! Oh piss off! We asked but it's like they don't want the Dr's to encourage circumcision.
Pete did some research before we had it done and there are a lot of new studies from 2000 forward showing why it SHOULD be done and the cure for any issues for an uncircumcised penis is... get this, circumcision! So there you have it.

All I have to say is the second one BETTER be a girl! hee hee hee

A tree for Nate

A ex-employee of mine, Ruth and her fiance Dirk came over to plant a Rose bush for me in my yard that will produce rose hips that I can make tea with. Ruth gave me some rose hips from her's already and it makes a great tea full of Vit C. They will help me with picking the rose hips and if we ever move they with help us move and transplant it.
I told them the Rose bush would be in honor of Nate's birth. The Rose plant is over 80 years old and has been moved from Vancouver to Richmond and some of the off shoot back to Vancouver (like mine) and to their new home in Coquitlam. I'm so excited and there are a few tiny little rose buds on it already and I'll get more and more every year, wheeeeee....
I can't thank Ruth and Dirk enough for such a wonderful gift that we will cherish for years.

Nate goes to Childern's Hospital...

Well Nate had to go to Children's hospital today to have an ultrasound done on his kidneys as they think he might have a horseshoe shape kidney. The issue if that is the case is he can not do any contact sports as a horseshoe shape kidney crosses over his spine and one hit and that would be his kidneys toast! YIKES!!!
Well during the ultrasound we saw the kidney all healthy and good on the right but when the tech looked for the kidney on the left and there was nothing there I started to get scared. I asked the tech if by any chance that both kidney's are on the right side. She asked me why would I ask that and I told her that it's because Pete has both kidney's on the right side. She brought int he D. and he FINALLY found the second kidney and sure enough it is fused to the right kidney, just like Pete's! I think it is called a "Crossed-fused Renal Ectopia". Basically the left kidney is attached to the bottom of the right kidney and it comes down and crosses over his belly to just below his belly button. At this point we are not concerned as Pete has the same thing and he's never had any issue with it his whole life.

On a happy note for me today (Saturday May 17th) Nate's umbilical cord stub fell off! WHOOT! Man it was really freaking me out and if it bleed ed (which is normal) would make me cry (still blaming the dame hormones, LOL). Nate has an innie ;)

Oh No he didn't!!!!

Have a good look at our son, the look on his face is one thing but is he flipping us off???
I bet he is saying "This one goes out to my paparazzi parents, STOP TAKING MY PICTURE!"

BA HA HA.... got to love it.

My first Mother's Day

Even thou Nate is only 13 days old I still get to celebrate my very first Mother's Day! Bring on the presents!!!
Pete took us to Tiffany's on Saturday and the necklace he picked out is on back order for 10 weeks and I didn't want to wait the 10 mins just to see a sales associate so we left empty handed. AUGH! No little Blue Box for me, *cry
So we hung out at home and then we went to the mall and Pete bought me a beautiful Mother's Day card that made me cry (can I still blame the hormones???) and then he spoiled me with my choice of Purdy's Chocolates. I could of had Godiva but I think Neena converted me to Purdy's, hee hee hee.
Thank you to all of you who called and sent e-mails, makes this new momma feel special.
Here is Nate and me on my very first Mother's Day...

Daddy gives Nate his first EBM Bottle!

Well after 40 mins of pumping HELL! All I got was 1 ounce of boob juice =( dear good that was painful. So pretty much it was treated like liquid gold.
On Friday I warmed up the milk and gave it to Pete to give Nate his very first bottle from Daddy. The little pig inhaled it in less then a few minutes and on to the boob he went, lol. It was nice to be able to watch Pete feed Nate (oh I'm getting all squishy inside)
Here is Daddy doing the honors...

A Poem for Nate from Auntie Cindy

Worthwhile Task
Cindy Curtis

A woman joins a special clan
When first her baby holds her hand
She stares into its newborn eyes
And then begins to realize
The import of the task ahead
The lifelong journey in her stead

But presently she’s full of grace
She loves his lips, his cherub’s face
She’ll get caught up in all the things
That being a new mom always brings
She’s always known that change would come
When one becomes a brand new mum

Soon enough she’ll start to see
That parenting a man-to-be
Takes more than love and adoration
The job demands real obligation
Consistency and tough decisions
A kind of strength hard to envision

It’s more than simply saying “No”
Ignoring fits and tantrums - though
That is a start, one sorely needed
By parents whose fight is already conceded
Raising a boy is no job for a wimp
Creating a man from a sweet little imp

For now rest assured that there is still time
Gaze with affection on his little behind
Soon ‘twill be red, more often than not
As the real boy emerges from your little tot
But as a woman I’ve found there is no greater joy
Than helping to grow a man from a boy

Nathan Alexander Brown

Nate was born on Monday April 28th at 10:44am,
7 pounds 4 ounces and 18.7 inches long.
He was an emergency C-section and we had one planned for April 30th but my water broke at 7am Monday morning April 28th, 2 day early and I went into labor (ok I know... 3 hours of labor doesn't count ;p)
Here are a few shots...

Did my Water just Break???

April 28th 2008

My best friend Clare called from Bangkok Thailand at 7am Monday morning so I jumped out of bed to get the phone. Well I always have to pee when I get up (I know TMI)so i did my thing and went back to bed and I had the sensation I pee'd a little so back out of bed all the way back to the loo and every time I went to get up I had to pee AGAIN! Soooo I finally get off the can and not even 10 ft out the bathroom door, “GOOSH” oh yeah baby that’s right (just like in the movies) so back to the loo again, thinking I just pissed myself, hee hee hee. So I asked Clare and we come to the conclusion that my water has broken =D WOO HOO BABY! I call Pete at work and tell him to get his ass home and get me to the hospital.
I quickly run around the house leaking like a sieve packing my bag, that’s right it’s not packed unless you count the boxes of bon bon's, granola bars and gummies, HA HA HA, no really that’s all I packed. I had a few Snickers’ bars too but I ate them already, lol.
Now why is it I can’t remember phone numbers that I have dialled then a million times??? I try calling my brother Todd and his wife Ann but my nephew Greg tells me that she’s at the cabin at Mnt. Baker, I try to call but I can’t get through, of all times to have this happen =( so Pete calls Todd and get him to get a hold of Ann for us.
Pete comes home and we are in disbelieve but we head off to the hospital and arrive at 8:26 am.
Now keep in mind Peanut is breeched so his butt is where his head is suppose to be and the baby’s head works like a cork (in normal situations) to stop the leaking of amniotic fluid (hence why I got that TV GOOSH) I swear this child has Pete’s ass cause if Peanut had my ass like mine it so would have worked like a plug, ROFLMAO.
To our surprise Dr. Rosengarten my Doc pulls back the curtain, "What's going on?" He was at the hospital doing a speech and they let him know I came in so he came by to check in on me and to introduce me to Dr. Dena Bloomenthal, the OBGYN/surgeon on his team that would be doing my C-Section. She is about 5-6 month pregnant. She is super nice and funny.
All of the nurses that where assigned to us names all stated with a “J”, Julianna, Judith, Julie, Joni, the list goes on… ha ha ha too funny.
Every time I laughed I leaked, and Pete got that on film for me =) NICE!!! The best is when they went to take me to the OR for the emergency C-section and 20 ft away from the bed I stop dead in my tracks and all I can say is “Oops sorry” hee hee hee, as I look down and have this nice puddle on the floor between my legs. Oh I know they have seen it all, what a little amniotic fluid, LOL.
In the OR they thought it was my second child because I was so calm for an emergency C-Section, that’s only because I had researched it, had a month to mentally prepare and watched a C-Section operation so I had a good idea of what to expect.
The epidural/spinal needle hurt but once it was in I was numb from the pits down in about 5 mins. Now that’s a weird feeling!
So there I lay on the OR table as all the Doctors and nurses come in and introduce them self’s to me. OK, how many people are in here??? The OBGYN/surgeon Dr. Dena Bloomenthal, Dr Lee the anaesthesiologist, Dr. Peacock the pediatrician and all these other Doctor's and nurses with names that all start with "J"! And finally at last my beloved husband arrives in his scrubs, he looked so official.
I was a little shaky and thought it was my nerves but apparently it was the drugs that cause that, kind of nasty cause you can’t control it.
Pete is standing by filming away and he looks over the screen they have draped up so we DON’T see what is going on. I’m in total shock! I can’t believe he looked, GROSS! SO of course I ask him… “Did you see anything?” he replies back with a “not yet”.
They tell us we are about 10 mins away and I’m really getting excited and so is Pete, he keeps looking over the screen and freaking me out. I tell him to stop but he doesn’t listen.
He says he can see the incision and just the thought freaks me out and I can’t believe he’s looking and NO ONE is saying anything.
He looks again and then he sits down, I say "You saw something didn't you?" He shakes his head and raises his brows and says he just needs to catch his breath… he looks pale, OK GREY is more like it and the next thing I know he’s looking at me and his eyes start to roll back into his head and his face slowly falls towards me. Peter, Peter… ah guys my husband just passed out. And then I hear the clung as he drops the brand new video camera =( OH NO!!!
Dr Peacock and Dr Lee grab him and lie him down on the floor and elevate his legs and he comes to in a few seconds. One of the nurses comes over with apple juice and cold compresses as Pete tries to get up she takes a firm voice with him and tells him to sit down as they already have one patient, ha ha ha. Dr Deanna said “Did he look?” and I tell her he did and she says “Get’s them every time. Dr. Peacock grabbed the camera and tells me not to worry that he’d get it all on film. Pete is now sitting beside me all clammy and pale but he’s OK. As we sit waiting we here Dr Deanna announces “IT”S A BOY” followed by the cry of our baby, that was the greatest sound I had heard! =D
They bring Peanut around for a quick glimpse and whisk him away to get checked out. A few minutes later we meet our son. We are in disbelieve that this tiny little bundle of life is ours. He has the chubbiest cheeks that are soooo cute.
OH yeah the best part, that night when Pete came back to the hospital he told me that the video camera was rolling the whole time when he passed out, ROFLMAO! Now that is even better. i can't wait to YouTube that! hee hee hee. Pete said the last time he looked over was when they pulled me open! YIKES! No wonder he passed out, lol.

They take us all to the recovery room and we have the first attempt at breast feeding and Peanut latched on like a piranha! Well he has no issues there, he is a breast man, hee hee hee. I tell Pete to go start making the phone calls!
After an hour plus and both baby and my vitals are good they take us to our room.

Pete and I had a couple our hours before the family showed up and Pete got to do his first diaper change and attempt the swaddling, lol. Now that was fun for me to watch.

I could start to move my legs a few hours later but it was so weird to attempt moving them, have the sensation that they are moving and to see moving move!

What a day! And so worth it =)

39 Weeks!

So as of April 26th I'm officially 39 weeks! The last few weeks have flown by and I'm so thankful to be off work and off my feet and the feel somewhat normal, as normal as swollen feet can feel, ROFL... and I can only wear runners as nothing else fits, hee hee hee.

So this Wednesday April 30th at 11 AM I have the C-Section and Peanut will be here. Pete and I are getting so excited and a little anxious. I can't wait to meet our baby. What will it look like??? Doc told me it will have a perfect head cause it's frank breeched but it's poor little legs with be in a pike position so the feet will be up by Peanut's face for the first few days, LOL. The Pediatrician checks the hips joints after the birth to ensure that the hips are ok and not dislocated, common with this position and more so in girls then boys. If any issues they put a special band on their hips/legs to help them fuse into the correct spot. Doc says I'll be in the hospital till Saturday morning and if I'm a good girl (little does he know, LOL) then I might get to go home on Friday for good behaviour, hee hee hee.

Pete and I got the crib delivered on Friday night, a gift from Reg and Chad (we can't thank you both enough, we love it), so on Saturday we built the crib, not to bad and Pete did most of the work while I sat there passing tools and screws, hee hee hee. Took just over an hour and it's beautiful, it's in Oak to match the other antique furniture we have.

Turning the Baby!

Well the appointment got moved from 10am to 1pm so my last chance to eat was before 5am so up at 4am to have some oatmeal as it was gonna be a long day. Oh little did I know...
Pete, Ann and I arrived at BC Women's Hospital just after 11am for the ECV (to turn the baby). Pete and I signed in and got our sexy blue hospital bands (he was officially Julie A Brown for the day, LOL). Routine just incase they have to do an emergency c-section. A nurse comes to get Pete and I and takes us to the procedure room. She asked to me change into a sexy green couture night gown (YEAH RIGHT), ha ha ha.

Pete went back to go get Ann, as we are ready to start the procedures. I first get my IV, oh that’s so much fun (and painful) but I watch the whole thing cause I’m a freak. Pete video’s it so he’s just as bad. The OB on staff comes to confirm that the baby is still a frank breech and of course Peanut is. She plays with the ultrasound and looks at the feet which Pete and Ann can see but I can’t see the screen =(
So on goes the fetal heart rate monitor and a blood pressure machine for me and shortly there after Dr. Rosengarten (my OBGYN) shows up. He goes over with me what’s going to happen and reminds me that if I tell him to stop them we are done. Everyone is in good spirits and we are chatting and laughing and cracking a few jokes.
Innocently I ask Doc if he gets to do this often and he laughs and "says often enough..." and it’s like “do you come here often?” and if he didn’t know any better he’d say I’m flirting with him, hee hee hee. Ahhh leave it to this pregnant lady to flirt ;) We all have a good laugh at my expense.
So I’m all slathered up in the ultrasound gel and Doc tilts the bed so my head is lower to let gravity help him move the baby’s bum out of my pelvis so he can rotate the baby into the correct spot. After a few attempts he’s breaking into a sweat and he’s shaking his hands out. He just cant’s seem to get Peanut out of my pelvis. I comment that I think I got the easy part and I’m giving him a work out, LOL.
Pete is standing at the foot of the bed video taping it and holding onto my ankle (just that little bit of contact with him calms me down and lets me know he’s there). Ann is over looking near by Pete and every once in a while I look over and try to smile.
I have to admit it does hurt and the only way I can explain it is like deep tissue massage times ten. I can’t believe how much pressure he is using to push the baby, Doc’s using his full weight pushing against me. The hard part was trying to breath and not hold my breath. He made a comment that it’s like pushing a car that’s not moving! He’s quick to say that I don’t weigh like a car but I get the point and we all laugh.
He decides to try one more time and he tried twice and he and the nurse said that I was doing really good. Peanut’s heart rate was strong and I was sore but after all that trying it was obvious that it was not going to happen. Peanut's butt is to far down (engaged) into my pelvis, i blame Pete as he's got the skinner ass out of the two of us, ROFLMAO! I think my Dr. was more disappointment then me (look on my face int he video may read otherwise) but hey we tried and that Doc defiantly did.
So it looks like I’m getting a C-Section after all. I’m booked for 1pm on April 30th, Pete’s mum’s birthday ;)
The nurse said that with frank breeched babies the success rate is about 5% with turning them.
They keep me in for just over an hour to make sure that the baby and I are doing fine.
Pete gets up about 40 mins later to go call him mum and as Ann and I are chatting the baby's heart rate drops from 126 to either 89 or 99 I can’t remember but I can’t see the screen but I can hear the fetal heart rate monitor. I think SHIT! Pete just left 30 seconds ago and now the nurse stands up and I’m trying to stay calm but I’m freaking out a little. She gives me the buzzer and says she’ll be right back, I think, OH SHIT! She’s going to go get the Dr. and I’m gonna have to have an emergency c-section and Pete’s not even here!!! But to my delight Peanut’s heart rate jumps back up and all is good. Ann I talked about it later and she said it freaked her out too.
Doc comes back just over an hour after the last attempt and says baby and I are doing great and to go home and rest and for Pete to take me for lunch, crap almost 12 hours without food, I’m starved.
He said there is a chance that I could go into labor after all this and he’s at the hospital for the next 12 hours so he’ll be there if I do but he looked at the contractions and they where small and I wasn’t feeling them.

Back to the Doctor’s on Monday to get a check up and unless I go into labor before April 30th that will be Peanut’s birthday =)

The next day... all in all I feel great, I do have some bruising right at the top of my bikini line from all the pushing and a little tender on my belly but other then that I’m doing great. It just feels like I did a million sit ups and every time Peanut moves I’m thankful that baby’s moving and ok but crap it hurts. I did not sleep very well last night cause every time Peanut moved it woke me up casue I’m sore.

If you would like to watch Peanut's EVC here is the link as it's not public (not everyone in the world needs to see it =) It's about 5min of video of our 2 hours before and during.

37 weeks! April 12th, 2008

Turn Baby Turn!!!

Well my OBGYM says I'm a good candidate for a procedure called External Cephalic Version (ECV), during an ECV my obstetrician will gently (yeah right!) move the baby by pressing their hands on my abdomen to turn the baby. I'm tall and skinny and the baby is thin (noodle shape) so easier to turn the baby then a chubby baby (meatball shaped), hee hee hee. Interesting to know that only 3% of babies breech! Just my luck ;)
I have watched a video of it on YouTube so at least I know what to expect.
Takes about 30 mins and I remain in the hospital (BC Women's) for 2-6 hours to ensure that the baby is doing fine. There is less then 1% risk involved and I'm not worried at all. More worried about the fact that my 200 pound Dr. has to bare down on my little body to turn the little shit! LOL. Cause the women in the video looked like it was very uncomfortable but I'm so not wanting a c-section and I know that will help me get through it. That and the fact Pete and my Sister in-law Ann will be there to help me through it. You also get it done in the hospital just in case they need to do an emergency c-section but Doc says he's only had it happen once in his whole career.
So the big day is Thursday April 17th at 10am and if for some strange reason Peanut decides to flip back into a breech position (unlikely) I have a c-section date for April 30th at 1pm.

Here is a link to the video I watch on an ECV, there is a Huggies commercial then the short video.
http://www.babycenter.com/2_lisas-birth-turning-a-breech-baby_1320895.bc

I know all of you wish us well and we very confident that Peanut will be a good baby and do as Doc wants.

I'm excited and nervous but I also have an inner calm about it, right now anyhow, wait till I'm in the hospital, ROFLMAO! I'm sure Ann will have her work cut out for her. Cause deep down inside we all know I'm a total freak, LOL!

I'll see if we can get Pete to video a little of it to put on the blog just to make you all laugh.

Baby Shower

My Mother in-law Wanda and Sister in-law Ann threw me a baby shower for a few of my friends and family on Sunday. We had a great time and it was so nice to see everyone.
OK, the weirdest thing happened tho, they all bought my Winnie the pooh stuff??? Gesh if I didn't know any better I'd say there was a theme, BA HA HA!!!
Here are a few pictures from the party...

Week # 35 and what did the Dr. just say....

I'm sorry but did the Dr say "BREECHED"!!! OH HELL NO!
So there is Pete and I for a routine visit and with it being April Fool's Day praying to God the Dr is joking but he's not =( So I have to go for an ultrasound ASAP and find out what Peanut is up to. Yes Pete and I are nervous, bad enough being first time parents but now the thought of a cesarean is freaked us both out cause we really had not thought this would ever come up.
here is a little info that I found ...
By around 8 months, there's not much room in the uterus. Most babies maximize their cramped quarters by settling in head down, in what's known as a cephalic presentation. But if your baby is breech, it means he's poised to come out buttocks or feet first.

When labor begins at term, nearly 97 percent of babies are set to come out head first. Most of the rest are breech. (In rare cases, a baby will be sideways in the uterus with his shoulder or arm presenting first — this is called a transverse lie.)

So there we have it! Well Pete took the rest of the day off to be together to talk and read about our option and to mentally prepare us for a c-section if need be. I truley am blessed to have him for my partner as he is so supportive and loving.
It was a little overwhelming this morning at the Dr's office when they had me fill out all the surgery forms, even though we may not need them it was stressful non the less.

And here I was thinking the only issue was my sore feet, fat ankles and dizzy spells that have started again, *sigh.

Well off to the ultrasound at 7pm and I get my blood work back tomorrow to see what else is going on but other then being mentally drained we are doing very well. Peanut is so grounded for the rest of his life, LOL. No really I'm so gonna kick his or her ass, ;)

Ultrasound:
Well it's confirmed, Peanut is frank breeched, so bum down and legs straight up the front with his feet above his head (flexible little sucker)!

Here are a few shots that we did get.

Shopping on-line!

Well after a day at Babies R Us Pete and I did the baby register thing. Hell we didn't even register for anything for our wedding, LOL. The hard part was trying to figure out the car seat and stroller, dear god! I have reviewed them all and some of them more then once, *sigh. That was a day of my life I'll never get back... all for the safety of Peanut. This kid is spoiled already and it's not even out of the oven! I told Pete all we need to register for was diapers and wet ones, hee hee hee. But after reviewing all the items we need we added a few more, feel free to have a look at our crazed shopping moment one Sunday afternoon!
http://www.toysrus.ca/registry/index.jsp the registry # is 40767058 (Julie Brown, Vancouver)
Yes I'm a Classic Winnie the Pooh girl at heart so that's the theme for the most part. Plus I love chocolate brown and baby blue (those are my bedroom colors).
Don't get me started on baby monitors or breast pumps! OMG!!! I think I'm gonna rip my hair out, why do they have to have so freakin many??? Better yet baby bottles... it was truly the blind leading the blind when it came to Pete and I trying to figure this shit out, LOL. But it's all worth it (so people keep telling me).

33 Weeks and I'm a heifer!

Well the scale has gone up again! 141 pounds and growing every week =) packed on another 5 pounds over the last month ;) Dr said I'm on track and my weight and measurements are all in order. Thank god, other wise I'd think I was just getting fat, HA HA HA, just kidding.
And for those who may not know what a "heifer" is...the definition... young female cow before she has had her first calf. Pretty much sums it up, LOL.
All going well I should put on about another 7 pounds approximately.
I can no longer cross my legs or else I get kicked, but it's a good trick if someone wants to feel the baby move, or if I have to remind the little shit who's the boss!

31 weeks! Home stretch =D

So as on March 1st I'm 31 weeks! And just incase you don't know the average is 40-42 weeks gestation period. I can’t believe it will be over soon, Thank GOD!
I’m still working on convincing Pete that he needs to do his part and carry that baby from now till then cause I’M DONE! LOL… no really I want my body back. The itching belly is not nice and I can’t see my… well its south of the boarder ;) and it’s NOT my feet. Mind you I have to get Pete to help me tie my shoes, lol not that’s I’m huge it’s just that I can’t touch my toes. I tease him and tell him that its good practice dressing someone, HA HA HA, mind you I’m core operative and not wiggling around, I could but that would make us both laugh =D
This kid is a kicking and a moving at regular intervals now and I refer to these times as the witching hour, hee hee hee. It’s funny when I lie on my back and you see my belly jump! I have been told by my company VP/Boss that those are the times that the baby will be awake when it come out but to change it from AM to PM and from PM to AM (he even knew the name of what’s it’s called)! Oh crap! That would mean 3:30am, 7:30am =( That’s not gonna fly with me. It’s funny cause I wake up at 3:30 am even though Peanut is sound asleep, makes you wonder…

Getting Bigger!

Just had my 28.5 week check up and I have put on 5 pounds in the last month so I'm at a grand total of 11 pounds gained! Belly has increased so I'm at 37.5 inches! I went up half an inch in 5 days and oh was my belly ichy. Nothing like watching a person scratch her tummy, HA HA HA.

I swear the 5 pounds was all done in the one week we spent in Jamaica, LOL... no really all I did was eat and sunbath.

Peanut's Future Bedroom!

OK, so Pete and I are changing over the guest bedroom/den to the baby’s room. After a short debut from Pete about keeping the wall paper, did he really think he had a chance with me??? ROFLMAO. We are going to strip it off and paint it up right! This should be lots of fun, NOT!

Here are a few shot as we go along!

Fat Ankles!

OK, so I have not had a lot of the typical pregnancy issues but this week I got to see what I’d look like if I had fat ankles, ROFLMAO! No really, for some strange reason my feet and ankles swelled (might have been induced by the excessive sun and no sun block on the last day in Jamaica, but that’s just a theory). Well needless to say I don’t have ankle bones to speak off. Now if you know that joke about fat ankles you’ll get the reference.
On the up side my boobs are fun to play with! Like two bowls of giggly jello, LOL!

Peanut's first Trip

Well Pete and I have two weeks off and had planned to go to Mexico with his parents but they just bought a newer mini van so they had to pass.

We have been surfing the web and checking the deals and today I found it! Flight Center had a last minute deal to... Montego Bay, Jamaica!!! We are staying at a 5 star very posh resort, Riu Ocho Rios, it's a very large resort with 856 rooms (shit I hate large resorts = I have to walk further to get to my drink, LOL), 7 restaurant, 6 bars, 24 hour all inclusive service, a disco and nightly entertainment. The manager at Flight Center could not believe the deal as flights to Jamaica are very expensive, never mind an A.I. at a 5 star resort. She has never seen a deal like this and the lowest she has seen before is about $2200 and that's before taxes and we are well below that with taxes =)

I'm so gonna be strutting my skinny preggo ass around in a skimpy bikini show off the bump! No need to stand tall and suck it in, lol, I don't think I could even if I wanted too, hee hee hee. Oh yeah, did I mention the bikini and some t-shirts are the only thing that fits! Time to go shopping for some new shorts =D

This will be our last kick at the can till baby is big enough to fly, I'd like to go back to Scotland to show Peanut and the hubby off family to my family.

Giggles

So Peanut really is kicking up a storm!

The other night Pete came to bed and his hands were ice cold (they call it mouse hand, LOL) and of course I'm all toasty warm (cause some off us knocked up chicks hit the sac at about 9-9:30pm) and I said "give me your hand" I put his hand on my tummy on the spot that I get kicked the most and his hand was there only a few seconds and Peanut gave a HUGE kick. Pete was shocked, I started to laugh and almost couldn't stop cause it was a big one even for me. Trying to give him a sense of what it is like to be kicked all the time. Peanut proceeded to kick a few more times before Pete moved his hand.

Pete thinks I'm nuts for laughing but his reaction was so funny to me, I'm used to it, he's not.

Also if you laugh that hard it's dangerous, I think I pulled a groin muscle, dang Karma's a bitch!

Right Winger???

OK, why don't people tell you about the abuse from the unborn child on the inside??? I swear this kid is so gonna be a soccer player, LOL.

So what, kids that get abused get a 1-800 # but what about mother's with unborn babies who are kicking the shit out of them??? Would only seem fair to me, LOL. Then again I could ground Peanut when he or she is big enough for pay back..."Oh yeah, by the way, your grounded! It's for all the grieve and kicking you cause me when you where in my belly." ROFL, I can see it now and even the shocked look of horror on the poor child's face, hee hee hee.

My Dad says that if it kicks on the right it's a Protastant and if it kicks on the left it's a Catholic. Guess Peanut wants to be a Protestant like all his other Scottish family members ;)

Dad also says that he'll introduce him to the manager of the Ranger's soccer (fotball) team back home in Scotland, lol.

Who's got the bigger Belly?

OK, this is cute and personal funnier then shit!
Pete wanted to know how big the belly was so I grabbed the measuring tape to show him, 35 inches. Well it's only fair that now I measure him, hee hee hee... well fat ass, I mean Pete, was 36 inches! Then he confesses that he has put on 6 pounds since Dec 23rd, the day he quit smoking (which I'm so proud of him for doing on him own). So I was laughing and teasing him since he's not only has he put on more weight then me in 2 weeks vs. my 23 weeks but he's gained a few inches on his waist as well which beats me, ROFLMAO! I told him if he gets fat I'll have to dump him ass, hee hee hee.
I so have to find a picture of Pete that would make you laugh, cause I KNOW I have one, hee hee hee.
