My best friend Clare called from Bangkok Thailand at 7am Monday morning so I jumped out of bed to get the phone. Well I always have to pee when I get up (I know TMI)so i did my thing and went back to bed and I had the sensation I pee'd a little so back out of bed all the way back to the loo and every time I went to get up I had to pee AGAIN! Soooo I finally get off the can and not even 10 ft out the bathroom door, “GOOSH” oh yeah baby that’s right (just like in the movies) so back to the loo again, thinking I just pissed myself, hee hee hee. So I asked Clare and we come to the conclusion that my water has broken =D WOO HOO BABY! I call Pete at work and tell him to get his ass home and get me to the hospital.
I quickly run around the house leaking like a sieve packing my bag, that’s right it’s not packed unless you count the boxes of bon bon's, granola bars and gummies, HA HA HA, no really that’s all I packed. I had a few Snickers’ bars too but I ate them already, lol.
Now why is it I can’t remember phone numbers that I have dialled then a million times??? I try calling my brother Todd and his wife Ann but my nephew Greg tells me that she’s at the cabin at Mnt. Baker, I try to call but I can’t get through, of all times to have this happen =( so Pete calls Todd and get him to get a hold of Ann for us.
Pete comes home and we are in disbelieve but we head off to the hospital and arrive at 8:26 am.
Now keep in mind Peanut is breeched so his butt is where his head is suppose to be and the baby’s head works like a cork (in normal situations) to stop the leaking of amniotic fluid (hence why I got that TV GOOSH) I swear this child has Pete’s ass cause if Peanut had my ass like mine it so would have worked like a plug, ROFLMAO.
To our surprise Dr. Rosengarten my Doc pulls back the curtain, "What's going on?" He was at the hospital doing a speech and they let him know I came in so he came by to check in on me and to introduce me to Dr. Dena Bloomenthal, the OBGYN/surgeon on his team that would be doing my C-Section. She is about 5-6 month pregnant. She is super nice and funny.
All of the nurses that where assigned to us names all stated with a “J”, Julianna, Judith, Julie, Joni, the list goes on… ha ha ha too funny.
Every time I laughed I leaked, and Pete got that on film for me =) NICE!!! The best is when they went to take me to the OR for the emergency C-section and 20 ft away from the bed I stop dead in my tracks and all I can say is “Oops sorry” hee hee hee, as I look down and have this nice puddle on the floor between my legs. Oh I know they have seen it all, what a little amniotic fluid, LOL.
In the OR they thought it was my second child because I was so calm for an emergency C-Section, that’s only because I had researched it, had a month to mentally prepare and watched a C-Section operation so I had a good idea of what to expect.
The epidural/spinal needle hurt but once it was in I was numb from the pits down in about 5 mins. Now that’s a weird feeling!
So there I lay on the OR table as all the Doctors and nurses come in and introduce them self’s to me. OK, how many people are in here??? The OBGYN/surgeon Dr. Dena Bloomenthal, Dr Lee the anaesthesiologist, Dr. Peacock the pediatrician and all these other Doctor's and nurses with names that all start with "J"! And finally at last my beloved husband arrives in his scrubs, he looked so official.
I was a little shaky and thought it was my nerves but apparently it was the drugs that cause that, kind of nasty cause you can’t control it.
Pete is standing by filming away and he looks over the screen they have draped up so we DON’T see what is going on. I’m in total shock! I can’t believe he looked, GROSS! SO of course I ask him… “Did you see anything?” he replies back with a “not yet”.
They tell us we are about 10 mins away and I’m really getting excited and so is Pete, he keeps looking over the screen and freaking me out. I tell him to stop but he doesn’t listen.
He says he can see the incision and just the thought freaks me out and I can’t believe he’s looking and NO ONE is saying anything.
He looks again and then he sits down, I say "You saw something didn't you?" He shakes his head and raises his brows and says he just needs to catch his breath… he looks pale, OK GREY is more like it and the next thing I know he’s looking at me and his eyes start to roll back into his head and his face slowly falls towards me. Peter, Peter… ah guys my husband just passed out. And then I hear the clung as he drops the brand new video camera =( OH NO!!!
Dr Peacock and Dr Lee grab him and lie him down on the floor and elevate his legs and he comes to in a few seconds. One of the nurses comes over with apple juice and cold compresses as Pete tries to get up she takes a firm voice with him and tells him to sit down as they already have one patient, ha ha ha. Dr Deanna said “Did he look?” and I tell her he did and she says “Get’s them every time. Dr. Peacock grabbed the camera and tells me not to worry that he’d get it all on film. Pete is now sitting beside me all clammy and pale but he’s OK. As we sit waiting we here Dr Deanna announces “IT”S A BOY” followed by the cry of our baby, that was the greatest sound I had heard! =D
They bring Peanut around for a quick glimpse and whisk him away to get checked out. A few minutes later we meet our son. We are in disbelieve that this tiny little bundle of life is ours. He has the chubbiest cheeks that are soooo cute.
OH yeah the best part, that night when Pete came back to the hospital he told me that the video camera was rolling the whole time when he passed out, ROFLMAO! Now that is even better. i can't wait to YouTube that! hee hee hee. Pete said the last time he looked over was when they pulled me open! YIKES! No wonder he passed out, lol.
They take us all to the recovery room and we have the first attempt at breast feeding and Peanut latched on like a piranha! Well he has no issues there, he is a breast man, hee hee hee. I tell Pete to go start making the phone calls!
After an hour plus and both baby and my vitals are good they take us to our room.
Pete and I had a couple our hours before the family showed up and Pete got to do his first diaper change and attempt the swaddling, lol. Now that was fun for me to watch.
I could start to move my legs a few hours later but it was so weird to attempt moving them, have the sensation that they are moving and to see moving move!
What a day! And so worth it =)
