It's a Girl!!!
We are excited to introduce our new baby girl born October 28th at 8:24 am, she weighs 6 pounds 14 ounces and 19.25 inches long. A little smaller then her brother but taller ;)
After 2 days we have a name for her...
Alexis Taylor Christina, she is named after a few people. Alexis is a version of Alexandria/Alexandra which is the female version of the name used on my dad's side and my Grandfather and Great Great grandfathers name, as well as her Uncle Kev's middle name and Nate's middle name. Taylor is my dad's middle name and Christina is after her Daddy's middle name (female version thou) and it even has "Tina" in it for our dear friend who passed away 4 years ago. Big name for such a little person, hee hee hee.
The c-section went great and she was perfect! No issuses from all the drama of a positive screen. Little Miss scored a perfect 5/5 on her Apgar test and she is 100% normal (OK, she is related to me so as normal as normal can be, HA HA HA!) and my recovery has been much faster this time. I think that is due to I know what to expect so less fear. Got a private room and I could have gone home the next day but the room service is so nice that I stayed an extra day, hee hee hee.
Pete and I are so in love with this little one and Nate... well we'll see how he adjusts to this new little person in our house. After all he is a big Brother now =)

NO WAY!
So I run into a co-worker at of all places... "Babies R Us"!!! Go figure, ha ha ha. She is due next week and as we chatted she told me that we get covered for a private room through our extended medical coverage??? Wait a minute, I looked into this and I could have sworn I called the company and was told no. I called my HO as soon as I left the store and sure as shit we ARE covered! OMFG! Well I can't complain as we did have the room all to our self's the first 2 nights with Nate and it was only on night 3 that we had a roommate, a roommate from HELL!!! OK that may be a bit harsh but a crying baby that is not yours really can frazzle your nerves. So this time around as it is first come first serve on the private rooms we are going to be pushing for one. I think I may put the bug in my OBGYN's ear that if I don't get one I'm gonna be a cranky bitch, hee hee hee. I've heard he has pull so why not use it to my advantage? Then again after my appointment this week that may not happen as I had Nate with me and when Dr. Mark came in the room Nate FREAKED out. It only got better when I got on the table and Nate was sitting on my lap and Doc went to check my blood pressure... Nate spazzed out and slapped at Doc! YIKES! Someone is either not liking another man touching Mommy and is showing his "Y" chromosome, HA HA HA! It was kinda sweet and after he left the secretary came in and he was all smiles and giggles for her. I think I have a flirt on my hands?
2 weeks to go and I can't wait. Starting to get excited to meet this little person and know I'm starting to wonder... Boy? or Girl? what do I want? How will Nate react to a Boy verses a Girl? So many questions and we haven't even thought of names, hee hee hee. Oh well, it will give me something to do in the hospital, ROFL!

Embarrassing Moments...
Oh I'm sure this is is just one of MANY more embarrassing moments to come...
It was a beautiful day that I had a play date with Nate so off we went to North Van for shoe shopping and we hit the jackpot, $50 frigin dollars later! Man I haven't even spent that on my shoes, ROFL. But he didn't complain and was running around the store like a freak so it was a done deal.
Next we headed down to Lonsdale Quay for lunch and some playtime. Had a very nice lunch of Fish n Chips which Nate's newest achievement is using a fork and he's very good at it. That was until this happened... he was trying to get a french fry on the fork with a skill full slow motion stab but the french fry had other ideas. It was launched into the air with a force that I didn't even know a fry could have!!! I look at the table behind Nate right in my view as one of the women sitting there looks at me and I ask sheepishly... "did you see that?" She nods her head and says "yes, what was it?" The other lady says "what?" I giggle as I feel my cheeks light up a crimson red and say "my son just launched a french fry into the air and I don't know where it landed..." A few seconds later the second lady announces "here it is!" as she pulls it out of her salad. OMFG! I wanted to die but I couldn't help but laugh cause it was pretty funny. I apologized and she was all good with it but deep down inside I was crawling under a rock dragging Nate behind me, HA HA HA! Oh the joys of kids.
We checked out the play area upstairs and all it is is a ball pit with one spiral slide. Well off came the new shoes and mommy throws Nate into the balls. He sat there throwing balls and enjoying himself when I decide he should try the slide, hee hee hee. So not age appropriate but hey he'll learn fast right? Well we make our way up the stairs and get to the top and I look into the slide which is completely dark as it's a tube of death to a toddlers, I'm sure of it, hee hee hee. I figure Nate would balk and not go in but he sits down and scoots forward and down he goes! There is a weird noise and I think he's gotten stuck and I bolt down the stairs only to hit my head on a low beams cause I'm about 3.5 feet too tall for this play area, HA HA HA... As I look at the bottom of the slide Nate pops out face first on his stomach o_O !!! Oh my, I guess that noise was him spinning around in the spiral, ha ha ha. Well he didn't cry and he even went for a second ride but this time he was sitting up when he came out the bottom so he did learn. We played for a little while but I got bored fast so off we went for a walk outside in the beautiful sunshine before we had to come home.
I love my playdates with Nate.

Memories of a Grandmother...
One year ago we said goodbye to Nate's Grandma Sharon, my mom. It's hard to think that she did not get to read or see all the fun stuff Nate is doing but at least she had the joy of meeting him and spending sometime with him before she left us. I pray that she is looking down on him with smiles and love as she was so excited to welcome him into this world as he brought her so much joy. We miss her dearly and are so thankful for the pictures and video's we have of the two of them together.

Such a BOY!
Well Nate is definitely showing signs of being a true boy, maybe even a contractor? With all the reno's under way, new kitchen and bathroom he has a few new favorite toys... Daddy's power tools. Especially the drills! He points and makes a "vroom vroom" when he sees them. He LOVES to play with the power cords... *sigh, I think I'll suffer a heart attack early with this kid. Pete bought him his own set of plastic power drill, so cute but he does enjoy playing with it but if he sees Daddy's he tosses his aside and goes for the big ones, HA HA HA! Maybe we can hire him out as cheap labour??? Okay, maybe not but it sure is cute.
One of the many joys of having a little boy is all the bumps and bruises. Currently he looks like his forehead has been hammered... YUP! My son is following in my foot steps and is a head banger and NOT the Rocker kind either. Within about 24 hours he has managed to slam and when I say slam I mean SLAM his head into his crib rail and then later the plastic tool box to leave a few very pretty bruises. God someone is gonna think we beat him. OH yeah and he somehow scratched his forehead with the corner of his new book and that looks real pretty. Hmmm... maybe we should take a picture for when he is older? Well being a Taurus is showing his strong will and oh yeah the best part... TEMPER! I'd normally swear here but I'm working on my potty mouth as he is picking up words up fast furious and that's the last thing I need for him to share at daycare or anywhere for that matter, ha ha ha.

Houston... we have walking!
So Nate has been teasing us with a few steps here and there but this week he really has been walking a lot more and by the weekend he's doing more then just 3-6 steps, he'll walk across the room and even turn around. So funny to watch as he is still wobbly and the arms in the air for balance make me giggle. He gives the biggest smile when he does it as he is so proud of himself. So cute. Pete and I get a good laugh at him and his funny little things he does.
He's mastered the getting up the stairs and is pretty good at coming down them now too but we still follow just in case... if you have ever seen our stairs you know why, HA HA HA! He can even get off the master bed which is pretty high and now he's trying to get down off the change table but we don't let him! Just a bit too high, ha ha ha. It's like he thinks we can't see what he is up to but, HA!!! Jokes on him :p

First steps
SO I went to pick Nate up from Daycare yesterday and he has been doing a step or two but nothing more. He's trying but often prefers to drop on his ass and crawl like a mad man across the room and shit is he FAST! SO I see him playing with one of the older kids Maja (how is sitting on the couch) and he passes her a toy, she drops it on the floor for him to pick up and pass back. Pretty much a game of fetch, HA HA HA!
Well one of the drops was further away and he took about 5 or 6 steps before he did his bum drop! Jeevan (who owns the daycare) and I look with excitement and clap "Good Job Nate!" She figures he'll be walking by the end of the weekend, I say Mr. Slowpoke will be another week or two, hee hee hee. I'm just glad that I was there to see it but i feel bad for Pete who didn't come with me to pick him up. I'm sure there will be more exciting moments that he'll get to see, like when he's 19 and can have his first beer with daddy, LOL! Boys...

Chatter Box Nate
So first first word was "Dada" then "Momma" back in December of 2008 and now his new word is "cat" and even makes a high pitch noise that is him mimicking a cat's meow, so frigin cute. He has almost mastered hi, duck, car (vroom vroom is what follows but he says that about the fan and my hairdryer, hee hee hee), bubbles, bye, ball and beer (Oh yeah baby he says ber, he's working on the full beer word but for now we understand ber). There is more but these seem to be the most popular. He is picking up things pretty fast now and he is using his sign language. I encourage him to use it and not just point and grunt, such a boy, LOL. He can sigh for ball, more, eat, milk, cookie, finished (or all done), and is trying to do a version of bath. He also sign's for milk when he wants a drink so we are trying to get him to do the proper sign for drink. I have to admit that it's such a great feeling when he does a new sign for me after trying and trying. Makes his Mommy proud.
He has a book of signs from the library that he really enjoys with great pictures and he points and says the word so it's a win win situation.
When he gets going he is very chatty and his most recent sound I would say not so much a word is him mimicking the cat "meow" sound off his guitar that he got from Mat, Buffy and Bailey for his B-Day. He'll say cat then make a high pitched meow sound which is sooo damn cute. I'm still trying to get that on video.

Inflatable Water Park (aka our back yard)
OK, so buying one pool (complete with dome that sprays water) is acceptable but buying 3 additional water toys (small gator pool, an elephant that sprays water from it's trunk and a giraffe that is a arch that sprays water) for a 1 yr old is kinda over kill... can we say "spoiled?"
Mind you after the first day of having the pool and seeing how much fun Nate was having it was hard not to get more toys.
The first day we put water in his pool and can i just say it was freezing water, he was in his diaper and outfit (thanks Daddy) and before I could go in to get the camera and come back out he was splashing around and was soaked! Amazing how heavy a water filled diaper can weigh, hee hee hee...

1st haircut!!!
BEFORE...

OK, so I have to admit I did let his hair get to long (not a mullet)but it's sooo curly in the back and cute that he can pull it off but Daddy Pete took a picture to show me otherwise, LOL.
I took a full inch off all over and had to go a little shorter around the ears cause of his curly blonde locks but OMG! He looks like a little man now. Makes me ponder what he will look like when he is a man.
They grow and change so fast in the first year and I can't believe what a whirl wind it has been. He's already 13 months old and growing FAST!

2 days shy of turning 10 months and we have action!
So Nate decided that he wanted his bottle that was on the floor in front of him...
It was in front of him but he could not reach it. He stretched and stretched but no luck. Then he got up on his hands and knees and did a one two flop on to his belly,
only to push the bottle further away. I however found watching this very amusing. He did this a few times and they I helped him out. Later he was facing me on all fours and I was sitting on the floor playing with him and decided to try to coax him to crawl to me... It
was a slow crawl but he did it and I was bursting with joy! I picked him up and smooched and cheered him. Then I ran upstairs with him and put him on the bedroom floor (all carpet) and he was about 3 feet away and he crawled to me again!!! He was giggling with his new found movement. We did this a few times and each time I moved further
away. He was pretty pleased with himself and I was super excited. Now I can not put him down and expect him to be there when I come back. Too bad for me. Guess this will help us pack up the crap to make way for Mr. Mobile, LOL.
And to make his day just a bit more exciting he is teething AGAIN!!!
My poor baby :(

A Star is Born... Or At Least a Cute Baby!
As Nate's mom there is no way that I can't be bias, he's just the cutest baby in the world to me and Pete too. So when people say he's so cute i think, that's cause he's a baby and all babies are cute, right? OK not all but most, LOL.
So at my parents drop in today at my local park one of the workers Nalla was very smitten with Nate. She said she wanted to give me something and she came back with a company name and a contact as well as her name. She told me to get in touch with this person as he is a talent agent for babies and children. She used to work for the company and said that Nate has the perfect look and such a great personality that he could pay for his own education in about 6 months. She told me that they can pay $50K a day for some shots!!! OMFG! Nate, so sorry Mommy is gonna have to charge you back rent... right too the time you invaded my womb, HA HA HA, just kidding.
I e-mailed the contact person and he asked for a picture and these are what I sent...

Here is what the agent said "OH MY GOSH.....what a face!!!!!!!!!! He is sooo cute!"
OK, this person is either smooth talking me or he really thinks so. Nice to have that kinda feed back even though he has never meet Nate. He is gonna let me know about a job with Hasbro, they were just in town and looking for babies 10-14 months of age. How exciting!
Well we will see what comes of this and I hope he at least gets to do one job just for bragging rights, hee hee hee, mine too of course =D

How did u do that???
So I put Nate down for his afternoon nap yesterday and he was squawking away and I went in to check in on him and he was fine. A few moments later there was a commotion of squawking so I bolted back to his room only to find him sitting up!!! "How did you do that?" I say. I was completely shocked but impressed. He just sat there smiling at me, LOL.
I have no clue how he did it but now we MUST lower the crib mattress before he launched himself out of it, which would not be good. Maybe I should check with his Auntie Ann as she was just babysitting him for the past few hours before she went to work so i could go to the gym. What else did she teach him??? Hee hee hee.
Well what ever he is up too he ripped down his mobile this morning??? I went in to get him up and the arm part was in his crib and the mobile was on the floor??? OK, that's it I'm gonna install surveillance cameras, HA HA HA

Baby made Mommy cry...
I've been signing with Nate for about 2 months but more actively in the last month and on Monday this week Nate did his first proper sign "more"! I was so excited I started to cry (I'm getting weepy thinking about it and smiling from ear to ear!). It was a very proud moment and I'm so happy that he's responding.
Daddy taught him to slap the try for "more", which I think he just slaps the try because he can, LOL.
We're not sure if Nate is waving goodbye or he is doing the sign for "milk" but either way it's soooo cute. He's growing soooo fast and I love seeing the little person in him develop. He also has taken to the cutest shaking of the head like he's saying no with a smile on his face, too cute.

Nice shot of those baby teeth! He is currently cutting 3 more upper front teeth!

Happy Birthady!!!
Wow, where does the time go??? Nate in nine months old today!
Got a great checkup from his Doc today, he's 17 pounds and growing like a weed =D
This also would have been my Mom's 63rd birthday and it's sad that she is not here but I know she is looking down on us smiling all the time watching over Nate.

What is THAT in your mouth???
So I'm playing with Nate and he's giggling away and I see something whitish in his mouth so oh course I have to stick my fingers in to investigate and tada... we have a new tooth!!! Nice shiny white lil tooth on the upper, not his front teeth that he asked Santa for X-mas but on right beside it. Too bad it wasn't one more over, the canine, that would be funny. OK only funny in a scary kinda way if you have ever seen Pete's... YIKES! Is he part vampire???

O Yeah Snot!
Ahhhh yes... Nate has his first cold and the snot shall begin. I wonder if it has anything to do with the projectile vomit I was so kindly showered in courtesy of my loving son??? Man that was a lil scary but he didn't cry so he may have just been a pig and over ate 9runs in the family, LOL)
Nate was back in our bed for tow nights all propped up to help him sleep. And even thou he is sick he is still a very chipper lil guy. THANK GOD! i have heard that babies can be very challenging when sick. I thank my lucky stars =)
