So 2 summer's ago Nate was playing with my cell phone at the park as we were at the top of the hill above the pool... you know where this is going... you know when that little part at the back of your brains thinks something BAD is about to happen and warns you of pending disaster? Yup he throws the phone, down the hill, across the concrete and into the pool! I moved as fast a Mother caring a infant can, jumped in the pool to save the sunken cell phone... guess what! The phone SURVIVED!
Well today was a different story. Alexis got my phone cause Nate took it off the charger and as I'm bathing Nate, Alexis comes into the bathroom and starts to play in the toilet... What is her deal with playing in the toilet? I go to pick her up to move her so I can close the lid but what is she reaching for in the toilet??? OMG! My cell phone is sitting at the bottom of the toilet o_O !!! I reach in and dry it of and shut it down ASAP! Crap (pardon the pun) but at least that toilet doesn't get used yet. After a day on the heat vent the phone works! Maybe my crappy ass razor phone is better then I thought?!? Still makes for a good story, bloody kids!

911....
So in the middle of Nate throwing a daily tempertantrum.... and Mommy not paying attention to the "beep beep beep" of the phone keys that Alexis has in her hands... the phone rings and to my surprise it's a 911 operator. To make a very ackward story short, a very cute cop comes to the house to make sure there is no one in trouble... does that include the toddler with a bad temper??? Cause he's in trouble all right!
Upon checking the phone, Alexis dialed 91111111111111111. Son of a b%#ch! Yup she is a trouble maker. The best part was when the cop came and she flirted with him... OMG! Did she do that on purpose? She must take after her Mother with a move like that ;)

I Broke the Baby...
Well I took on the task of building Alexis's new crib all by myself! I did it too! No instructions and I figured it all out. I'm not just another pretty face you know but SMART TOO!
Little miss awoke from her nap and I sat her in her new crib. She is not crawling yet but she rocks forward on her left leg. Well she rocked a little too far and too fast and "SMACK" right into the top crib rail! YIKES! She ate wood basically... my poor baby girl. She gave me a bucket of tears, a blood curdling scream and a blood stained t-shirt :..( Break my heart. Well after a little first aid of a wet cloth wrapped around an ice cube for her to suck on to sooth her I took a look and OMG! That tiny bit of skin on the inside of the upper lip "the frenulum" is STUCK between her front teeth. I cringe at the site and panic! OMG, I have to take her to the ER or the Dentist. I broke the baby! Well after a little Internet reading it turns out this does happen as strange as it is but I will have to take her in to the Dr's or the ER to see if they can release it if it doesn't on it's own or they may have to cut it but it's worse for the parents then the child and it's not painful apparently. Kinda like a big piece of steak meat stuck between your teeth I guess?

Pearly Whites!
Well on Sunday we got the first showing of a bottom tooth only to bite me a few days later but on Wednesday we have the top 4 showing, mostly the front 2 and one on the side coming in! Oh how my boobs tremble with fear, HA HA HA! No really she bites HARD! The blood on my bra proves it ;)
For now the breast feeding shall continue until she calls it quits or until I can't take it anymore. We'll see who gives in first... Alexis or Mommy???

OMG! Can it be? Is it Freedom I smell???
After many failed attempts to get Alexis on the bottle I think we have success! I know stay calm, it's only been 3 days and 3 bottles, one per day but she has taken them from both Peter and I so I'm pretty stoked. We tried different brands, Advent and Born Free and she seems to prefer the wide mouth bottle style or is it the nipple style that she likes better? At any cost I'm trying to stay calm as this leads to me getting a little freedom and not having to time it out from a feed, go do something and be back in time before she needs more milk and a cranky husband, hee hee hee. I have pumped and stored some milk but know I have to pump like mad to get lots of milk as I'd like to get her to a min of 9 months of just boob juice before we do formula. But if it becomes to much of a chore and I feel like a cow being milked then I will most definitely crack open the formula. With the new freedom comes some worry that she'll ween from me. Her brother did at 9 months almost to the day so I think I'd like to go 9 months or longer if I can with her. There is nothing more natural or bonding then breast feeding a baby and I truly have had my share of plugged ducks woes to have some of the joy that comes with it.
I have a little mouse...
I'm in the closet off the kitchen, our pantry I guess and I see a Halloween foil wrapped chocolate that has been chewed into!!! I grab it and on closer examination I see the very familiar teeth pattern of a toddler! Yup I have a little mouse on my hands. Sneaky little bugger. I throw out the foil chewed through candy but the blonde in me leaves the other two behind.
A few nights later I see a very quiet Nate at the closet and immediately I know what he is up to. I sneak up behind him and ask him what he is doing and the look of sheer guilt is priceless. One of those moments when I wish I had a video camera rolling. I take the chocolate away and grab the other. He of course freaks but I unwrap the last one and give it to my wee man which in turns gets a big "mmmmmmm chocolate" as the drool and chocolate leak from the corners of his mouth. Oh how I have bread a chocolate hound. Like Mother like son ;)
Oh well still better then going for foil wrapped chocolate Santa's that a dear friend of mine did in a desperate chocolate craving which ended in a very unhappy result, ROFLMAO!

Hmmmm I Wonder if she's gonna blow like that volcano?
Well Nate did 6 days of no pooping and now Alexis is doing the same but we are on day 7! No poop. Scary cause I wonder if she'll blow like Nate did, I know gross! But this is my new life. We'll just keep the fingers crossed. She is of course farting up a storm but since she is 99% breast milk feed it really is no issue. But I did give her pea's the last two days for dinner. Funny cause Nate see the green slim and says "Peas!" and sticks his finger up his nose, ROFLMAO! Ahhhh so he remembers the pea incident...

First Food
Alexis not only tries to grab ours forks and reaches for our drinks all while making chewing movements with her mouth we decided that she is in front of the curve so we tried her out on some Brown Rice pablum... she LOVES it!!! She eats it like there is no tomorrow and has no issues, well maybe that we can't reload the spoon fast enough, HA HA HA, no really! She sits in her Bumbo chair on the kitchen table while we all get to eat dinner together so she really is part of the dining experience.
Today Saboor had the pleasure of giving her a piece of watermelon to suck on at The Well, and she really enjoyed that. I almost forgot how much fun the first foods are. So neat to see how they react to it all.
And to think she just turned 5 months old today. My baby girl is growing so fast.

Viva Mexico!
Well we took the kids to Mexico and my family came with us, Todd, Ann, Greg and Trev. Plus our best friends Tom & Sue and their two kids Riley and Kaitlyn joined us. We agreed on Playa Del Carmen on the Caribbean side. We got a great deal but a one week All Inclusive is just not long enough, hee hee hee. Once again I was burned in more then one way as I'm still breast feeding Alexis so my alcohol consumption was non-existent. One day I'll get to drink again, hee hee hee.
It was a challenge traveling with two little ones and THANK GOD we had extra hands to help us out. I think I would have lost it if it hadn't been for my family helping us out with all the gear we had.
The weather was perfect durning the day but this year at night the temp dropped down to 14 degrees some nights and that is just too cold for us or anyone really when your in Mexico. Oh course it was warmer at night in PV so maybe next year we'll go back to the Pacific side.
I have to say it was a very different trip from even last year. Having two is challenging but having a toddler makes it very challenging. Alexis is still nice and easy, just like Nate was last year in PV.
Excursions were out of the question this trip =( the tour operator didn't recommend that I take the baby to Coba so we'll have to do that another trip.
If we ever go back to Playa del Carmen we want to stay in one of the tiny little hotels right in town with all the action. Our hotel was a massive 5 star resort that was way to big for us especially with a stroller as we would have to unload the kids and gear to take the shuttle and it was not worth the hassle. I was disappointed with the kids area. All in all the Holiday Inn (3 star) was way better then The Grand Sirenis (5 star)! Small hotel may not have the large selection but you get the one on one name and you get to know the staff and the staff gets to know you and you get better treatment in my eyes.
All in all we had a great time and in one way were sad to be away while the Vancouver 2010 Olympics were on as it was lots of fun even though it was insane! Nothing like having to board your bus to the airport as the gold medal game for hockey is on as it goes into overtime!!! INSANE! But someone on the bus got a text to say we won and it was awesome, we were all hooting and hollering.

IF I could stop laughing, maybe I could help him...

OMG! So I get this holler from the kitchen from Pete to help him as i'm trying to nurse baby girl. I sigh and think you have one, deal with it already! Try having two ALL day long, hee hee hee.
I pop poor baby girl off, put her in the bassinet and truck on out to the kitchen to find... ready for this... a "PEA" lodged up Nate's nose!!! I just about hit the floor laughing, oh god I'm a bad parent but oh come on you have to laugh as you hear of it but I never knew it could REALLY happen. Well the only thing I can think of is to plug the nostrail and put my mouth over his littl nose and suck that pea right on out! HA HA HA, well the joke was on me! All I could think was please god don't let the pea enter my mouth! YUCK! Worst case a trip to the ER would do it. SO I try and man it was like trying to suck a basketball through a garden hose! No frigin luck, *sigh. I call the Newborn Hotline (aka the BC Nurses Line) and after a few minutes of trying to give information between my bouts of laughter she walks me though how I really should do it, not like what i was doing! SO just incase you ever come across a dinner date who jams a pea up their nose for fun, this is what you do;
1. plug the non blocked nose
2. puff short bursts of air in their mouth (not to hard)
3. wait for a pea to come flying out (you hope)
This is called the kissing technique. Well Nate has a freak out and the Pea is now missing, OH GOD! Did he suck it up further up his nose as he was crying??? I sit him up and think, ER here we come. The nurse on the phone is awaiting my return with my results. Well there is a pea lying on the change table! Is that it or is that a stray from his clothes? Quick Pete get the flashlight! Well nothing that I can see but red fleshy nostrail.
I report back to the nurse that we got it out! WOO HOO!
I almost want to keep the pea as a keep sake, HA HA HA. Poor Nate, now I refer to him as "pea nose" so long to "Peanut" ;)

What was I thinking???
Alexis and I planned a date with our dear friend Arni who said we should "walk" to the restaurant in my hood and hit a few stores as well. It seemed liked a good idea and it was only raining a little bit but on our way home the wind picked up and thank god I had a buggy cover or Alexis would have drowned! The rain was coming down and this Princess was getting wet! I have no clue how I let Arni convince me to walk in the rain, ROFL! But next time I'm driving, hee hee hee.
Vancouver needs more store front owning to protects us from the rain, lol.

Did she just say that?
Pete has been cooing with Alexis and he says "boo" to her and tonight in a very clear reply back to Daddy she said "boo"!!! I'm so loving the cooing and how she will mimic you when you stick out your tongue, so cute. She looks like she has something really important to say when she is trying to coo. So precious and I'm trying to enjoy it even more as she will be my last.
